How to create good energy in your new home

Moving into your new home and starting again from scratch can be overwhelming. You want it to go well as you have invested a lot of time, energy and money into the whole process, so it is important to make this worthwhile by maximising positivity and creating good energy in the surroundings of your new home. Our homes are places that we love to come back to and love to wake up to as they make us feel safe and comforted. If you want to find ways to breathe more life into your living space, in order to provide a healthy and happy environment, we have some key tips to make this possible.

1.       A cluttered house means a cluttered mind

Seeing clutter everywhere in your new home is most likely going to eradicate any positive energy circulating. It certainly won’t make you feel better and it is potentially dangerous as it will cause you to feel more stressed and affect the relationships between you and your partner or children. Once you have de-cluttered all areas of the house, it helps you feel calm and relaxed allowing you to enjoy the new space. The way you can do this is to make sure all boxes are in the right rooms or areas to unpack. It is also good to have clear hallways to create good energy flow. We also suggest placing coats and shoes inside a closed cupboard, so they don’t stagnate the energy. To activate the feeling of zen, place a mirror and fresh flowers in the hall which will instantly uplift the energy and you will easily sense this.

2.       Natural lighting and fresh air

A simple thing to do is to open the curtains during the day, allowing shades of natural light to enter your home, because if it’s dark and gloomy, you are guaranteed to feel a bit flat. Natural sunlight can instantly help brighten a house and add warmth which can help homeowners feel more energetic and positive. The same applies to opening the windows; if the windows remain closed, this can allow the house to feel stuffy whereas when they are open this can offer so many benefits. It can reduce anxiety or stress levels, like hearing the birds, listening to the rain, or just breathing in the fresh air. Opening windows will have a hugely positive impact on the energy of your home.

3.       Music

Having music on in the background of your new home is a good way to get positive energy flowing. You might want to listen to some meditative music in the afternoon which will help you completely unwind and relax. However, if you want something a little more upbeat, we’re sure this will release your endorphins and you might find yourself dancing around the house while also getting things done and even increasing your productivity. We’re not saying you have to have it on all the time, but we think it’s a no-brainer when it comes to making yourself feel comfortable in your new home and magnifying a positive vibe.

4.       Plants

Bringing nature inside is an obvious way to brighten up the house as it invites colour and a refreshing outlook. Investing in plants such as succulents, bonsai trees or even orchards is a nice touch as these last a long time and will instantly make a house feel like a home.

5.       Use essential oils

Numerous studies have proven that incense and aromatherapy can contribute to people’s happiness so if you would like to consistently invite good energy into your home, picking an essential oil like lavender, rose, or sandalwood is a good place to start. Essential oils are perfect as they are completely natural, customisable, and safe and they can make a difference to the room’s energy for hours.

6.       Avoid bright artificial light

Lighting plays a fair role in the energy of your home. When winding down in the evening, don’t use garish, overhead lights as these can be quite intense and, in your face, and opt rather for lamps or dimmed lights if you have this option. Candles also provide a calming and comforting atmosphere.

7.       Use a bowl of salt with fresh water

A less well-known source of good energy in a new home is to use a bowl of fresh water with a teaspoon of sea salt in it and leave it in a room for a few hours. It sounds unusual, but it works! Salt removes impurities and negative emotions from a space. In the early stages of settling into your new home, there might be a few more tensions than usual because of the stress so using this technique will be sure to draw out any bad energy.

8.       Put love and pride into each room

Ahead of moving into your new home with your partner or spouse, it is probably a good idea have a discussion about the style and interior of the house, especially if you are both interior design orientated. Nothing beats the feeling of being house proud so much as when you walk into the living room and don’t want to leave because you adore everything from the sofa you have chosen, to the colours and paintings on the walls, or even the centrepiece you have picked for the living room table. Ensure that you agree on everything that is being placed in the house and put love into each room so when it is complete, there is a sense of positive energy, as it is exactly what you want it to look like and that makes you happy. It is no good entering a room and thinking “Hmm I don’t like that” as it may make you feel agitated or deflated. Being on the same page as your partner will emphasise the ‘chi’ where you both long to snuggle up on the sofa or relax on the bed after a long day and admire your new beautiful surroundings.
